I received my COMC package rather quickly

My latest purchase from COMC arrived on Friday, which was way quicker than I figured. It took exactly four weeks. Considering their reputation for being slow, four weeks isn't too bad. Especially considering I'm up here in Canada.

I bought a bunch of different stuff, because like most of you I have collecting ADHD. I would have a nice collection if I could just focus on one theme, but I get it in my head to collect a few different things. And then a few different things becomes quite a few different things, and then I have a mess. I should rename myself Lionel because I'm messy.

I'll break this down into multiple blog posts, that way I get as much writing out of this package as I can.

This is the 92 Stadium Club. I love this photo. It's so iconic, with poor Patrick Ewing getting posterized by Michael Jordan. Early 90s Stadium Club was amazing no matter which sport. That these cards are considered junk wax simply because there are too many of them is astounding. The mentality of so many people in the hobby is screwed up that way. Stuff ought to be considered junk if it's poor quality, in stock or design. That would make this card less junk wax than a lot of stuff released today, including so-called premium cards.

Two Hall of Famers from 89 Fleer. I also really like this design, and I think it's the best looking Fleer set from the 80s (yes, even including the famous set). It's worth nothing, but it's another example of great looking cards of famous players being worthless because of supply and demand. I think you can tell the difference between people who collect because they like the sport and the hobby and people who collect out of conspicuous consumption based on whether they enjoy junk wax.

Two 87 Fleer Hall of Famers. Kareem cards are so cheap. He's one of the all-time greats, but basketball fans have a short memory and basketball fans who collect cards have even shorter memories. It's why whichever rookie is the hot rookie this season is the most important player ever, and most rookies from the past deflate in value. No memory. These cards are pretty ugly, really, but there isn't a ton of vintage basketball that isn't ugly.

88 Fleer. That's Rodman's rookie card. It's in nice shape. I think I paid like $20 for it or something. It's weird seeing him with normal hair. These cards are ugly, too, but really any Fleer basketball cards from the 80s are iconic anyway.
